End of Year Snapshot

Hi everyone!

It's been a really busy few weeks but it's almost the end of the year. Thank you all so much for your hard work and support this year. I had a great year in Belmayne ETNS getting to know you all.

I am beginning to send home workbooks and copies which we have used throughout the year.  Some of the workbooks are not completed in their entirety. In some cases I have taken a more practical approach to the curriculum. Different activities have also been sourced from a range of materials. All areas have been covered over the course of the year.

Here are some photos which were taken over the past few weeks.

Have a wonderful summer everyone! Best wishes for the future,

Maria

Kuma bear came to visit:

My friend Kuma bear from Japan came to visit Belmayne ETNS.  The Children did a fantastic job at looking after him and showing him around our school.

Kuma bear is very famous in Japan and other Asian countries.

 Woody brought Kuma a present!

We had lots of Fun on Sports Day

Even Kuma came to check out all the action!!!

In May we learnt all about the life cycle of a butterfly.
We were lucky enough to grow our own caterpillars. Once they had changed into beautiful butterflies we released them in the park.

This was a picture of our caterpillars when they first arrived in room 7.
When the had developed into butterflies they stayed in this net in our classroom until their wings were strong enough. The liked eating fruit such as apples and strawberries and drinking water.

In June, Finally we said goodbye to our butterfly friends.

In learn together we read the story : How full is your Bucket?

We each made our own bucket : everyday we gave each other nice compliments to help fill out buckets!

IN MATHS WE EXPLORED WEIGHT

We worked together in groups to investigate how many of certain items would balance our scales

Group work is important as we learn how to take turns and listen to each others ideas.

1916 in Belmayne ETNS

Thank you to everyone who helped with the planning and organisation of the 1916 events around school. All the teachers and children became completely immersed in the teaching and learning, celebrating 100 years since The Easter Rising.

Here is just a flavour of some of the things we got up to during the last two weeks.

We learnt the song Grace for our assembly. You can listen to us practice it here :

In first class we focused on the living conditions of the tenement buildings in 1916. On Tuesday we presented a show and tell day. Our class presented to Julie, Mel and Denise's classes. It was great to see work from other classes.

The Presenters talked about the various ways we explored 1916.
We learned about Elizabeth O'Farrell, the 7 signatories of the proclamation, how we integrated 1916 into our art classes, we learnt about the story of Joseph Plunkett and Grace Gilford and finally we learnt what life was like in a tenement house in Dublin at the time.

On Wednesday, we had our assembly and proclamation day. Here is a snap shot of some of the things that were happening:

Thanks again to everyone for their help and support over the past two weeks.
Enjoy all the 1916 events happening over Easter.
Have a lovely break everyone!!
